In the middle of Berlin, in a place you would never associate with a basketball court, stood a solitary basketball hoop. The surroundings felt more like an abandoned, barren landscape than a bustling city. The ground was dusty, cracked with deep fissures, and everywhere you looked, there were dried-up plants and shrubs that had long succumbed to the relentless sun. It felt as though nature had retreated here, leaving everything to the scorching summer that had dried out the land. In this desolate scene, the basketball hoop stood like a relic from another time.
The sun hung low in the sky, casting its harsh light on the backboard of the hoop. The shiny rim glistened and reflected the light in such a captivating way that I had to capture the moment. With my DSLR camera, I focused on the hoop and the scene around it. The contrast between the sharp contours of the metal rim, the faded colors of the net, and the lifeless shrubs in the background created an almost surreal atmosphere.
This picture was more than just a photograph of a basketball hoop. It was a moment of stillness and solitude in the heart of a city that never truly sleeps. A reminder that even in a metropolis like Berlin, time can stand still for just a brief second – and that sometimes, beauty is found precisely where you least expect it.
