I recently visited an ancient fortress whose name powerfully reflects its former strength and might: Hammerhus. The fortress majestically towers over the landscape, telling tales of past times full of pride and fortitude. As I wandered through the imposing walls, I came across a tree that stands tall within the fortress, like a silent witness to the passing centuries. It stands there like a being from another world, its branches sprawling wide and its roots deeply entwined with history.

This tree, which I photographed, resembles the mystical trees from fairy tales. Its gnarled bark and intertwined branches make it appear ancient and wise, as if it has countless stories to tell. It gives the fortress a unique atmosphere, as if it preserves the secrets of the past, revealing them only to those who are willing to look closely. In its silent presence, the timelessness that surrounds Hammerhus is reflected—a reminder of the power of nature, which endures even the strongest walls.
