The Prague Pigeons

In Prague, there are more pigeons than people. Now, that's not officially confirmed, but if you ever stand on the Old Town Square and look around, you’ll agree with me. So, there I was, surrounded by all the tourists waving their cameras around like Harry Potter with his wand, and suddenly, I saw them: THE pigeons. Not just any pigeon, but this majestic gathering of feathered jokesters.

The pigeons of Prague are not like regular pigeons. No, these ones have the attitude of movie stars who are absolutely certain they're up for an Oscar. One of them strutted right in front of my camera, turning its head as if to say, "Yes, this is my good side. Snap away before I move on to my next scene." Naturally, I snapped the photo immediately. A selfie with a Prague pigeon? That would be the crowning glory of my trip!

But it got even better. While I was trying to take the perfect shot, a full-blown pigeon flash mob began. One pigeon tapped a tourist on the head, as if to say, “Hey, have you seen my latest show?” The poor guy jumped like a popped umbrella. Meanwhile, another pigeon posed on a statue like it was the new mayor of Prague. I swear, it was smiling. Or at least, that’s what I thought.

Amidst the selfie sticks, street musicians, and a giant panda in costume (why is there always a panda?), I was trying to take some serious photos. But the pigeons wouldn’t leave me alone. One perched on the camera of a Japanese tourist and looked through the lens as if it wanted to take over as director. “Good, good, a bit more light, please! And you there, Tourist #37, a smile would be nice!”

In the end, I didn’t just take a few photos—I had a whole photo series. “The Adventures of the Prague Super Pigeons,” I call it. They weren’t just pictures—they were art. And what did I learn from all this? Prague may be famous for its stunning sights and rich history, but the true stars of the city? Without a doubt, the pigeons.
